I really love this logo for the New Man clothing company and how much it differs with the previous logotype they used. This conveys a chic and modern style, where as the old one felt like the logo for an old western saloon. What I love most about this logo is the fact that it is the same upside down as it is right side up. This is not only incredibly clever and satisfying to look at, it also poses a lot of practical benefits. For example, this logo can be read whether it is on somebody's shirt standing in front of you, or whether it is folded up facing away from you in a store. I love the adaptability and simplicity of the font, with the capital and non-capital letters being the same height. It does a good job at a conveying the brand fast, while also having the extra detail of the vertical reflection which adds to the pleasure of looking at it for a long time.

On the topic of sleek brand design, I would like to talk about the product design from the company Apple, because I watched the Steve Jobs movie the other day, and have been watching old videos from many of Steve Job's product launches.

Ive, J, and team. (1998). iMac Computer. Image Retrieved from https://512pixels.net/2012/12/imac/ on February 10, 2020

The design of this original iMac seems to emphasize accessibility and playfulness, which is a common them in many of Apple's product designs. What I find so interesting is that this computer seemed to break a rut of computers which came out before it, which were made of monotone plastic molded in some sort of brutalist block fashion. The iMac, however, is smooth, clear, and has a bright turquoise on each of the three components of the computer. I'd like to draw a connection between the iMac, and the New Man logo, because they both appear to break the mold set by their predecessors, and having an element of playfulness and detail that is simply appealing to look at.

Something mentioned in the text book was the adoption of graphics teams by TV stations. One particular example, which I really loved taking a look at were the 1963 opening titles for the TV show Doctor Who. These titles are very fun to look at and convey some of the biomorphic design concepts we explored in our previous class. I encourage you to take a look at them if you have yet to do so.
