Lecture Blogpost - Leslie Ramirez
So far, the most interesting thing I have seen was the Adolf the Superman poster. I appreciate how it cleverly sends two messages. The first that the Nazi's are using race as an excuse to have more money and the second that Adolf is something less than human. Many times, stories will talk about how the most human thing in the world is the ability to feel. Humans are emotional beings, and the heart is constantly used to represent emotions. Yet in Adolf the Superman, Adolf's heart is removed and instead replaced by a swastika, taking away the most human part of him. Its powerful. Plus, I am impressed by the artist's hands on method for its creation. The only thing I want to learn more about are the stories behind things. Examples of artistic movements are great but I retain more information when I know about their stories.
