Lecture Post

I find the French posters from the Art Nouveau period very visually interesting as well as beautiful. The human subjects, vivid color palettes, and hand-lettering give you so much to look at. Jules Cheret has a beautiful style of placing the painted illustrations in the center of a light background and then incorporating hand-drawn type around and over the image. While Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec uses lines and large chunks of solid color to create his illustrations and layers his hand-drawn type over and under that.
